    No, they'd rather you spend your assets, leaving nothing for your kids to inherit. My mother just went into care, she's got lots of liquid assets and a house in a trust.

    *She*, up until recently, was dealing with my aunt's dementia care - she went through all of her assets and are now looking for a facility that Medicare can cover - but there aren't any beds available.

    I wonder if we're going to have one of those "black mirror" futures where robotics become senior care givers - someone who can stay in your home with you, never sleeps, can monitor vital signs and call 911.

    On a side note, I hear people rallying to stop property taxes at age 65. I'm on board for that - even though California heavily rewarded homeowners in the 70s with grandfathered tax estimates, it's still a huge burden for someone on a fixed income.

    Now, we all need to figure out how to be as healthy, mentally and physically, as we can be.
